IQ
Okay, so some people argue against IQ tests saying that it’s a one-dimensional measure of smarts but let’s face it. It’s pretty reliable.
Oh and all that Howard Garner multiple intelligence hoopla? The one that says that even Mike Tyson can be considered smart. Haha.
I remember back when I was a kid, our school had an IQ test for our grade. Even back then, I was considered pretty smart. The day the results went out, we were asked to see the guidance counselor for the “interpretation” of our score.
But being in the 3rd grade, none of us really cared about what the scores meant. It was simply: the higher, the better. And it simply gave us quite a lot of ammo to pick on the certified dumber kids.
Until, of course, they turn in jock-bullies some time around middle school. (This is why, until today, I find guidance counselors useless.)
